Part-Time, Remote Web Manager (Web Fairy) for Tax Fairy GodmotherTM
Small but mighty niche tax business from Toronto, Ontario looking for a new web & digital media manager to join the team.

This is a contract role (you must have an HST number pre-existing):
✓ 90% remote working activities,
✓ Occasional in-person events/meetings 10-20 hours/month to start,
✓ Flexible schedule with occasional emergency requests
✓ $25/hr to start, paid bi-monthly upon invoice Must be residing in Greater Toronto Area

About the Company

Tax Fairy Godmother™ is a Canadian tax preparation service founded in 2020 by Debbie Horovitch. We specialize in helping people who are 5-10 years behind on filing taxes, and have ADHD, money trauma or anxiety dealing with the Canada Revenue Agency, the same issues personally experienced & overcome by our founder. With more than 600 clients to date, our everyday goal is to demystify and simplify taxes for neuro-diverse, creative professionals, and self-employed Canadians of all ages.

Tax Fairy Godmother™ has been a single person business for years, but we’re preparing to grow & scale, and now beginning the search for reliable, passionate, and dedicated professionals to join in on our mission of helping improve the financial confidence of generations of Canadians. This role is to replace and continue the work of our existing web fairy who’s been with TFG for nearly a year, and will be leaving to dedicate her focus to her full-time role.

Tax Fairy Godmother™ is looking for a part-time Web Manager who is passionate, creative, and flexible, to help maintain the website and to help support other marketing related responsibilities. The candidate will report directly to the founder Debbie Horovitch and provide fresh ideas to optimize web design, ensuring increased traffic and an accessible/accommodating user experience. The ideal candidate will also have experience with graphic design and content creation as the company expands their presence across social channels. An ongoing, loyal, and trusting working relationship is ideal.

  • Spearhead the web strategy and conduct quality assurance tests to ensure optimized performance 
  • Maintain the day-to-day operations of the website by ensuring plug-ins are updated, blog posts are uploaded, contact forums are operating and other tasks as needed
  • Optimize client experience by ensuring both mobile & desktop websites, all landing pages, funnels & communities deliver the best design layout and content formatting for audience readability and conversion from prospect to contracted client
  • Maintain (& uplevel) legal and business insurance compliance, anonymity, and accessibility standards required of all digital marketing activities
  • Troubleshoot any web or administrative errors as they arise 
  • Monitor all inboxes and contact forms to ensure inquiries are forwarded to and addressed by the founder in a timely manner 
  • Work closely with the founder to ideate, plan and execute content for the company website and social media channels including Facebook, LinkedIn, X/Twitter, TikTok & IG, as well as integration of Ai tools and bots into content development and all business marketing & communication activities 
  • Support all graphic design needs for social media content, web banners and other advertisements 
  • Conduct competitor analysis’ and stay up to date with industry trends to ensure company channels remain current and engaging to users 
  • Attend bi-weekly meetings with the founder to discuss site progress and brainstorm new ideas for promotions or upcoming campaigns 
  • Support copywriting as needed for the company website and advertisements 
  • Assist the founder with other marketing and administrative tasks as needed to support the growth of the brand
  • Measure & report on time spent on tasks, for systemization and definition of this growing role
  • Create Tax Fairy Godmother™ Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for your responsibilities/tasks, following Mike Michalowicz’s ClockWork (Penguin Portfolio, 2017) approach to business efficiency, personal growth, and enduring value from team hours worked 
  • 1-2 years working on websites or using WordPress / Elementor / Dreamhost, webmail & funnel/landing-page tools
  • 1-2 years designing graphics or editing audio/video content 
  • Experience working with Canva 
  • Good understanding of Adobe Suite (Photoshop / Illustrator) is a plus 
  • Basic understanding of HTML 
  • Basic understanding of AODA recommendations and requirements, as well as CanSpam and other Canadian digital marketing legal requirements
  • Passionate about web design and content creation
  • Self-motivated to correct & grow, detail oriented, w/strong communication and problem-solving skills 
  • Soft-Skill Assets:
    • Interest in, or experience with taxes (in Canada)
    • Personal neurodivergent traits, or understanding of how to accommodate for and optimize learning & executive functioning management
    • Personal or professional experience with mental health therapeutic approaches for entrepreneurs an asset
  • Extreme attention to detail, knows how to harness & fuel hyperfocus, and gets dopamine (spoons) from completing tasks with minute details that make the whole result better 
  • Positive, curious and open-minded attitude to finding NEW solutions, willing to take risks to test ideas and find winners, and able to ask for & access help and directional guidance from community peers
  • Self-directed lifelong learner (personal and business growth investments), enjoys and gains personal fulfilment from solving problems, recognizing that learning & growth always comes with difficulty/challenges, and doesn’t mind
  • Values honesty and transparent, direct communication, along with discretion of business plans and any client or vendor information, as per legal agreements
