About the Company
About the Company: Tax Fairy Godmother® is a Canadian tax preparation service founded in 2020 by Debbie Horovitch. We specialize in helping people who are 5-10 years behind on filing taxes, and have ADHD, money trauma or anxiety dealing with the Canada Revenue Agency, the same issues personally experienced & overcome by our founder, Debbie Horovitch. With more than 750 clients to date, our everyday goal is to demystify and simplify taxes for neurodiverse, creative professionals, self-employed and marginalized Canadians of all ages.
Tax Fairy Godmother® has been a single person business for years, but we’re preparing to grow & scale, and now beginning the search for reliable, passionate, and dedicated professionals to join in on our mission of helping improve the financial confidence of generations of Canadians.
Requirements For All Roles:
- Extreme attention to detail, knows how to harness & fuel hyperfocus, and gets dopamine (spoons) from completing tasks with minute details that make the whole result better
- Positive, curious and open-minded attitude to finding NEW solutions, willing to take risks to test ideas and find winners, and able to ask for & access help and directional guidance from community peers
- Self-directed lifelong learner (personal and business growth investments), enjoys and gains personal fulfilment from solving problems, recognizing that learning & growth always comes with difficulty / challenges, and doesn't mind
- Values honesty and transparent, direct communication, along with discretion of business plans and any client or vendor information, as per legal agreements
- Is able to access their own resources and communities for everyday assistance within the role
All Roles Qualifications:
- Self-motivated to correct & grow, detail oriented, w/strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Soft-Skill Assets:
- Interest in, or experience with taxes (in Canada)
- Personal neurodivergent traits, or understanding of how to accommodate for and optimize learning & executive functioning management
- Personal or professional experience with mental health therapeutic approaches for entrepreneurs an asset
All Roles Include Responsibility For:
- Creating Tax Fairy Godmother® Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for your responsibilities/tasks, following Mike Michalowicz’s ClockWork (Penguin Portfolio, 2017) approach to business efficiency, personal growth, and enduring value from team hours worked
